| Comment | The Mustang Andesite was previously assigned a Pleistocene? age Thompson and White, 1964. Its late Miocene radiometric age suggests that the underlying Clark Mountain sequence of Lousetown Formation is late Miocene or older and has a different age than the type section near Lousetown Creek. These age determinations suggest some revision of the stratigraphy of the Northern Virginia Range is in order. Work on this in cooperation with George Thompson of Stanford University is in progress. |
