Abstract
Variations among rare-earth-element REE analyses of Cenozoic volcanic rocks and associated intrusions are interpreted in terms of tectonic setting, age of activity, and local igneous sequence. REE fractionations are interpreted as due to differing components of mantle and lower crustal melts, variably modified by crystal fractionation involving REE-rich accessory minerals.
